There's nothing quite like cheesecake for breakfast. Mom and I went to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner last night. The dinner-food was good, but not as good as the prices implied. But the dessert made up for it; we each got a slice of cheesecake to go, ate a bite from both pieces when we got home, then finished them off for breakfast. The peanut butter cup cheesecake is out of this world, and the half slice that was left was a nice treat after breakfast this morning.
I missed my cousin's kids' birthday party last Saturday because of a previous appointment, but Mom knew how to find photos online, so we spent half an hour looking at pictures from the party, including these:
Slobbery Wee Beastie:

Those ears and those eyes ... she's definitely my brother's kid:

Mom told me the Wee Beastie has a shallow dimple in her right cheek when she smiles. I was ridiculously happy when she told me last night. Dad has it, I have it, and she has it!
Mom's gone already, though. She came home last night to be closer to USC this morning where she had a dentist appointment. She should be on her way to Aunt Millie's by now. But she's coming home again Sunday, since Chris has Monday off for Presidents' Day and can stay home with the girls. Not that I'll be at home to keep Mom company (I don't have the day off work), but that means she'll get some well-deserved peace and quiet Monday. And a clear shot at the computer.
I told my boss about Jerome K. Jerome's Three Men in a Boat, which I only heard of because of a YouTube user who uploaded Dara, Griff, and Rory's adventure in Ireland. As a sailor and an aficionado of British literature, I thought JD would have heard of it, but I was mistaken, so I spent five minutes talking about the book and a few of its adaptations, including the one with Michael Palin and Tim Curry. He sounded more than a little interested, so I sent him a link with additional information on both the book and the BBC series. I love making book recs!
Taking half a day off work, so I'm out in a few minutes. Happy Friday!
