From [livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive:

1. Are you a loser?
2. What "geeky" activities do you take part in (games, trivial pursuits, etc)?
3. Are you out of the closet about your geekiness?
4. Does your significant other join in on these activities? (Or, if single, would a potential SO have to?)
5. Geekiest public moment?

1. Yeah. I make Charlie Brown and Martin Crieff look good.

2. Fanfic and fanart (both creating and appreciating), meetups and a few conventions/symposiums. I've cosplayed once or twice. I read a lot of books, though not as many as I did before I started reading fanfiction. I stand out in the freezing cold and miss sleep for hours to stare at the night sky in the hopes of seeing a meteor. I'm on Tumblr, though I reblog more than I create, and I stalk my favorite actors on Twitter.

3. I'm too lazy to be in the closet, though I don't broadcast the extent of my geekiness unless I'm with close friends.

4. Single. He wouldn't need to, but it would help.

5. Fangirling Mark Hamill at a convention.

From [livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive:

1. What is your favorite season?
2. Do you do anything special to acknowledge the change of seasons?
3. Planning to do any spring cleaning this year?
4. What is your favorite plant and why?
5. Hows about a poem? C'mon, it can be about anything you like.

1. Autumn! The heat of summer is over for a while, we get weather that's something other than sunny, and the holidays are coming.

2. Not usually, though Christmas (obviously) is only a few days after the winter solstice, so in a way, I celebrate that.

3. I never used to, but I have for the last few years. I'm just getting the flat up to the usual level of company-cleanliness right now (I've been spectacularly lazy this winter), and then I'll bring out the big guns and start doing the extra stuff that only happens once a year.

4. I like herbs I can cook with, but my favorite flower is a white daisy. Big or small, I don't really care; I just like daisies.

5. I can't remember the author, and I'm probably getting the words wrong, but the gist of my favorite haiku is:

In spite of my efforts to conceal my love,
It shows on my face and makes people ask,
"Is something bothering you?"

What? You didn't say I had to write it. Originally written in Japanese, obviously, since the syllables don't match up.

1. What do you think of Valentine's Day/Singles Awareness Day/whatever you choose to call it?
2. Is it a holiday you observe? If so, how? If not, why not?
3. What's the best way you've ever spent February 14th?
4. Can you draw a heart?
5. If you could make up a holiday, what would it be and when would it be observed?

1. Valentine's Day or the 14th. It's fine if I'm part of something. It's just another day or an excuse to wallow in chocolate (nom nom nom) if I'm not.

2. When I was a part of something, I observed it with whoever I was dating. When I was a kid, the family observed it, but we tell each other we love each other all the time anyway, so there's nothing to do on the 14th that we don't already do every other time we see each other.

3. Three years ago, I went to see [livejournal.com profile] elise_wanderer in a play and got to hang out with her, [livejournal.com profile] bambu345, and [livejournal.com profile] bambumom after. The play was fantastic, and the company was just as good. Best Valentine's Day EVER.

4. I've never tried to draw an anatomically correct one, so I don't know. The romantic kind is easy.

5. Towel Day/Geek Pride Day already exists on May 25th, so I'm good.

Who would you ...

1. Have dinner with?
2. Share an apartment with?
3. Be locked in a jail cell with?
4. Go camping with?
5. Go on a date with?

From the [livejournal.com profile] hp_fridayfive: this week, it's about one character:

1. What are your three favorite moments for that character?

in order:
Moment #1: making Pumblechook BACK OFF
Moment #2: the first Patronus lesson with Harry
Moment #3: giving the Marauder's Map back to Harry

2. What’s your least favorite moment?

in the Department of Mysteries: having to tell Harry that Sirius isn't coming back

3. What’s your favorite quote by that character?

when he quips that he hasn't poisoned the chocolate, just after the incident with Pumblechook on the train (I don't have the book with me at the moment)

4. What is one thing you hope happens with your character in Book 7?

he goes head-to-head with Greyback and kicks the animal's arse -- coming out unscathed, I might add

5. What is one thing that absolutely can’t happen to your character in the final book, APART FROM DEATH?

he can't betray Harry or the Order!

1) If you had to move 100 miles or more to the north, east, west, or south, which would you choose, where would you end up, and what's so great about there?

2) Do you have a favorite stretch of highway or byway for driving, touring, or wandering?

3) Are you happier to start a trip or return home?

4) Plane, train, automobile, bicycle, or foot?

5) Do you overplan or underplan your travels? (Assume that "no" is not a valid answer.)

1. What's your favorite line from a movie, and why?
2. Who's your favorite villain from a movie, and why?
3. Name one movie everyone else loves that you hate.
4. Name one movie everyone else hates that you love.
5. What's your favorite Pixar film, and why?

1. "The air is full of spices." Sense and Sensibility, courtesy of Alan Rickman's luscious voice. Guh, I say; GUH.

2. I'd love to say Voldemort, because Ralph Feinnes is hot, but it has to be Malefecent from Disney's Sleeping Beauty. She'd kick Voldy's butt. (Barely, but she could do it.)

3. Titanic. It's the cheesiest slobberfest I've ever had the misfortune to watch.

4. Clue. It's so weird, but absolutely hilarious, and the seven lead actors are all brilliant.

5. At the moment it's Toy Story, but I can't really give a reason because I vacillate between it, A Bug's Life, Monsters, Inc., and Finding Nemo all the time.

Ganked from [livejournal.com profile] celisnebula:
1) This is the 1st of September, what do you want to accomplish by the 31st?
2) What does September make you think about or feel?
3) September is the ninth month; can you name nine memories so far from this year?
4) What does September have in common with three other months and can you name them?
5) The first weekend in September signals the end of summer for many even though it doesn’t really end for weeks. When does summer end for you?

1. Finish writing and post the next chapters of Beautiful and Dear Friend. (By the way, there is no 31st of September.)
2. The hope that summer will end soon.
3. The car accident, nice chats with Professor Cutie-Pie, accounting class with the Dad as my teacher, [livejournal.com profile] snarkyroxy finishing Before the Dawn, constantly squeeing over [livejournal.com profile] subvers's His Draught of Delicate Poison, writing my first sex scene, helping Benny pack and watching her move to Texas, going to Aunt Millie's and swimming in my bra and knickers (because my swimsuit hadn't arrived yet), and suffering unrequited affection for Phil.
4. September's name is based on numbers. Sept, for seven, Oct -- 8, No -- 9, Dec -- 10. Don't remember which calendar it was; the Julian, perhaps? But the new year started on the Vernal Equinox, hence, September was the seventh month.
5. When the weather changes, and I can taste autumn in the air.

1. Are you named after anyone? If so, explain.

A sixteen-year-old girl who lived in Denmark met a pair of missionaries and joined a church. Her parents disowned her and threw her from the house. She worked and saved her money, and immigrated alone to America. Takes guts, wouldn't you say?

2. Do you have your children's names picked out already? If so, is there any significance?

If I have a daughter, her first name will be Elizabeth. The middle name can be negotiated, however.

3. If you were born a member of the opposite sex what would your name have been?

Peter.

4. If you could re-name yourself what name would you pick and why?

Elizabeth. You can do so much with it, and no one misspells it.

5. Are there any mispronunciations/typos that people do w/ your name constantly?

You have no idea.

Hide

3. If you were so famous that money was no object, where would you live?

On a farm on Orcas Island, in Washington State

4. If you could meet any famous person, who would it be?

I've heard a lot of good things about Sean Connery

5. What would be your famous catch phrase/quote/motto/last words?

"I need a nap."
