My flat looks awful and smells worse. The poor cats have been doing their business in a box that hasn't been scooped since Friday morning, I don't have a single clean cereal bowl or drinking glass, and the recycle bin is overflowing. It won't keep me from doing another play eventually, but I will plan better next time. I'll have enough vacation time to take Hell Week off, and I'll hire a cleaning service to dust and mop my floors when everything gets intense.

Bill gave each woman a pink rose on opening night, which I thought was very sweet. Last night, we all got Double Delight roses. My stem broke, so I cut it really short, and it's floating in a wide-mouthed cocoa mug.

The Wee Beastie's blessing went well. I was not expecting to see my Uncle Bob or Aunt Jo there, but they came all the way out on a rainy Sunday morning to participate. I think Jimbo invited them because the Wee Beastie was partially named for Mom and Aunt Jo's mother, my Nana. All three of us sniffled a little during the blessing when we heard the name Elizabeth. Stereo sniffling. Dad dropped me at the Jimbos' house after the main worship service, where I let the dogs out and worked on my Christmas cards for the S&M cast and crew. Mom came home from church after noon and took me to the Mysterium, which was awfully nice of her because it's an 80-mile round trip. I think she considered it a small price to pay to see me for more than a few minutes.

Last night was the high point of my acting career. In getting promoted, I got a really plummy part. The Ghost of Christmas Future shows Scrooge the people who burgle his house after he dies and steal everything they can find. The scene we performed was the three looters selling their stuff to Old Joe, a kind of Nineteenth Century pawnbroker. This is what we say when he picks up a shirt out of my bundle:

Me: You may look at that shirt until your eyes ache, but you won't find a hole in it, nor a threadbare place. It's the best he had, and a fine one, too. They'd have wasted it, if it hadn't been for me!

Joe: What do you mean, they'd have wasted it?

Me: Putting it on him to be buried, to be sure! Someone was fool enough to do it, but I took it off again.

When I said that, I heard at least two grossed-out "Urgh"s from the audience, which is exactly what I was going for. This is a disgusting scene with disgusting people, and it made my day to know that the audience really got it!

Another thing about that scene: when I took Celestina's part, I didn't play it the way she did. She exudes young, sweet, and pretty, so we all laughed our way through the scene like it was a good joke. I came in and upped the "ick" factor, so we were more like vultures gloating over their lunch. And since it was Phil playing Old Joe, we flirted a little on stage, especially after the others left us alone halfway through the scene. Where were we going when we grabbed everything and ran offstage? *wink wink nudge nudge*

I'm not as sad as I thought I'd be. I think the rain helped me be glad the play's over; the cold humidity and clinging, damp costumes made us all a bit lethargic, especially yesterday. My hem was so wet that I left a trail of water wherever I went, like snail snot. And I'm happy at the prospect of working on projects I've ignored for the last couple of months.

Today, my SED meme is what I've already hinted at: I'm gonna start cleaning so I have a nice, clean flat for Mom and me for the holidays. This morning I'll wash at least half the dirty dishes, scoop the Beastie Boys' box, organize the shopping (I only put the refrigerated stuff away Saturday), and take out all the trash and recycling. Also, I'll put a pound of frozen bread dough in the fridge so I can make myself a pizza for tonight's dinner (and a couple more meals). Then I'm off to work, where I will torture my coworkers with chocolate; I bought a big bag of Ghirardelli squares to share with everyone.
