fails all around

keladry_lupinI e-mailed director Marla Friday, asking for our rehearsal schedule because I have things that need doing soon, but I need to plan them around the play. She said she'd send the schedule and the cast list out that night. I got nothing.
Saturday: nothing.
Sunday: nothing.
Today: nothing.
I got to rehearsal tonight and sat down. I recognized a few people, but I haven't worked with any of them before. Just before Marla started to talk, I overheard someone mention the e-mail we all got. I said, "What e-mail?" at the same time two other people said the same thing. Turns out Marla sent it, and she got the notification that four e-mails bounced back without being delivered. She can reach me via Facebook, my home phone, and my work phone, but did she try to contact me any other way? No, she did not. The entire script/score was in that e-mail, too, and I wouldn't have looked like a complete ignoranus tonight because I didn't have a score. I ended up standing up and looking over someone else's shoulder for part of the read/sing through, but even with glasses, I couldn't read the words.
And I knew I wasn't very good at singing auditions (I get too nervous), but when the vocal coach pointed at me as Jack's Mother's part started during tonight's run through, I shook my head. Then she muttered "Oh, yeah," and that they haven't cast her yet. I wouldn't have minded losing Jack's Mother to someone better for it. But it doesn't take Sherlock to figure out that, given the things she said, I auditioned for it, and it still isn't cast. Why don't you scrawl the word REJECT in block letters with a red Sharpie on my forehead or shoot a few arrows in my chest while you're at it?!
