I've probably gone overboard here, but what the heck.

Regarding the [livejournal.com profile] sshg_exchange: "If you were considering creating a post detailing your likes and dislikes for your assigned author/artist/crafter, now is the time to do it. Everyone has received their prompts, and plots are percolating. Be aware that your assigned author/artist/crafter may not be on your flist and may be checking out your LJ, trying to determine what sort of story/artwork/craft to create for you. It would be a nice thing to make a public post, detailing what you like/dislike for the benefit of your gifter, especially if your LJ is otherwise flocked."

Dear Gifter,

In art, I'm not a huge fan of Emma Watson. I prefer someone who isn't generally considered pretty unless she makes three hours of effort. Choose an average-looking woman to base your art on and go from there (read: bushy hair, not just orderly waves or tamed curls). Having said that, I will admit that I've used Alex Kingston as a model for Hermione, and I know she's gorgeous. Young-ish Alan Rickman is fine, as is Richard Armitage. (I know they're both far too good looking to be canon Severus ... but I'm a hypocrite, so that doesn't bother me.) I prefer drawings (traditional or computer-generated) to photomanipulations. I don't have a preference for a particular style or medium.

In fic ... where to begin? I am happiest when our heroes meet as equals in some way. It doesn't have to be every way -- I like master/apprentice and she's-the-boss fics -- but I wrinkle my nose at fics where one of them is the other's superior in every way and still finds the other attractive. Doesn't seem realistic. Ultra-confident, sex god/dess, and playboy/playgirl Severus and Hermione bug me; nerds can be attractive, but let's build on the examples we have in canon. Please no major character death unless it's the reincarnation prompt, though you can throw in a red herring, like a character faking his or her death ... just so long as they come back for the HEA. I like happy endings, though how they get there is up to you; anyone who's read my stuff knows how much I enjoy angst. I don't like dark fic or dark characters, though. I like funny stuff, especially if it's dry and/or sly, and fluffy fic is lovely, too. (Fluffy characters, not so much.) Marriage Law is okay, but I much prefer the Yenta variation of it, and the old Daddy Long Legs challenge was another of my favorites.

I prefer not to receive stuff that isn't safe for work. No kinks, please. (Heck, I don't even know the names of a lot of the kinks out there.) Please fade to black once the snogging goes beyond enthusiastic. I'm cool with a mature rating due to language and violence, though. (The King's Speech, for example.) I'm not terribly fond of Weasleys (except Fred and George), Malfoys, Death Eaters, Voldemort, or Dumbledore, but if your muse brings them along for the ride, do it.

Go as AU as you like! If secondary pairings come into your fic/art and it doesn't demolish the plot, I really like Harry/Luna, Ginny/Draco, Ron with Pansy, Susan, or Lavender, and the theory I've occasionally flirted with: Filch and Pince are Tobias and Eileen. Canon pairings are cool, too, of course, except Ron/Hermione unless they've already split up.

I enjoy crossovers in both fic and art. If any of the following makes something spring to your mind, feel free to play with it, even if you don't end up following one of my original prompts:

Doctor Who (Ninth or Tenth Doctor)
Torchwood (up to and including Children of Earth)
Sherlock Holmes (BBC, Granada, or book!canon)
Much Ado about Nothing
Twelfth Night
Tamora Pierce's Tortall
Greek and Egyptian mythology
Jane Austen
Jean Webster
Star Trek: TOS, TNG, and reboot

And if you're a crafter, I collect bookmarks of all kinds.

Okay, so this is ridiculously long. Of course, I'm not expecting everything I like ... I just hope this helps or gives your muse a spark. Use a sock puppet here or go through the mods to ask for specific clarification if I've confused you in any way!
