yay, I got something done today

Besides work, of course.
I finally got my act together and signed up for the SSHG Exchange. My fic prompts aren't very simple, but I did make a note that prompts are prompts ... if an art prompt makes a writer think of a fic -- or vice versa -- they should run with it.
Of course I had to include a Sherlock-related prompt in there somewhere! I wrote half a scene of a crossover fic where both SS and HG are living as Muggles in London, and a mutual acquaintance named Mike Stamford introduces them because they're each looking for a flatmate. I couldn't make it pan out, but I could definitely see Severus as Sherlock Holmes with very little tweaking (Legilimency only makes the consulting detective job easier). Hermione as a healer and war veteran isn't much of a stretch, either. I've read enough Holmesian gender-swap fics (Victorian Josephine hides her gender, or modern Joanne lives as a woman and just has a funny nickname: John) to make the idea entirely plausible. So I asked for Severus and Hermione in a Granada or BBC pose or situation for one of my fanart prompt requests. (Wouldn't Severus look dashing in Benedict's long coat and scarf?)
Ideas for this round have bombarded me as I've looked at other participants' prompts, but I've tried not to get my heart set on any one of them ... FAIL. There's one art prompt that I did a rough draft for several months ago because I love the fic this person wrote and the moment she asked for especially, but it got set aside when I started working on those plays last summer. The writer will get my drawing eventually ... it's just a matter of when at this point. *grins*
Rather hot weather this week -- boo -- and my allergies are causing a bit of trouble. I'm surviving thanks to Claritin, but I still feel like my head is stuffed with Kleenex.
The hobbit hole smells of chicken. I'm off to pull it out of the crock pot (it's been in there all day) and pick it apart in a few minutes. Chicken tacos, sandwiches, and quesadillas for the next few days! Yum.
This is the first Tuesday night I haven't spent with Phil in many weeks. He gets off work around 8 pm, and we either go to a movie, or he comes over to hang out for a bit, but with spring cleaning and daily chores and stuff, I needed to get home and work tonight. Sentimental swine that I am, I do miss him tonight, though.
Spent Saturday at California Adventure with Mom. The first time we went, we did everything once. Saturday was her second time, and we stuck with what we liked best, which means we only hit about six attractions, but we hit them over and over again! Three times on Toy Story Midway Mania (3D point-and-shoot carnival games) and Soaring over California each. We had a great time.
Motivation for all worthwhile pursuits is hard to find lately, even when a clear incentive is inches from my nose. Nothing for it but to struggle along.
Bedtime! Good night, all.
