nice stuff

I made pillow cookies Sunday. OH MY GOSH. They're huge (half a cup of dough per cookie) and soft, and it takes an entire glass of milk to down one. Yum. I'm the only one to think they're spectacular, though; Phil, Dad, and Mom all thought the brownie in the center of the cookie didn't add much to the taste.
Finished reading Frankenstein and moved on to Orson Scott Card's Enchantment. I like it so far.
Movie night with Phil last night. Rio isn't the best movie out there, but it was fun. His supervisors schedule him for a 4-8 pm shift every Tuesday, so I show up around 7:45, and we see a movie together. We don't have Saturday evenings any more because he's worked every Saturday since Scrooge and Marley closed in December; this is the next best thing.
I've bought headphones for work and have taken to listening to Into the Woods while I do my more mindless tasks. It's Sondheim, so it's like an Altman movie set to music, which means it'll be a nightmare to learn if I get a part ... might as well familiarize myself with it now. I'd thought longingly about the role of the Baker's Wife until I saw the second act. If she ends up rolling around on the stage with a prince (who hit on her), I haven't a prayer of getting that role, and I don't think I'd want that anyway. Jack's Mother has plenty of opportunities for comedy, and as she's the only major supporting role I would fit physically, that's what I'll aim for. I'm looking forward to participating no matter what I end up doing -- if I don't get a role, I'll do tech stuff -- but being Jack's Mother would be brilliant.
I love Little Red Riding Hood. She's a deadpan smartass, and I wish (hee) I'd had the opportunity to try out for this play twenty years ago. But quite frankly, if I'd had this chance twenty years ago, I'd chop my hairas yellow as corn, dress in drag, and play Jack; his tenor range is where my voice sounds best.
