Well, I finally saw The King's Speech. Spoilers ahoy under the cut. I don't have the same passion for this gorgeous creature that I do for my beloved not-so-pretty chaps like Alan Rickman and Martin Freeman, but he certainly made me take notice tonight. He was magnificent. His early speeches were drawn out enough to make you feel embarrassed for him, but not so much that you writhed in agony. He and Geoffrey Rush had good chemistry, as did he and Helena Bonham Carter.
She was wonderful. Everybody was wonderful. I recognized so many faces, but not always at first. (Oofy Prosser?) I didn't recognize Jennifer Ehle until she came face to face with Colin, and then I smacked myself in the forehead. Duh, Trina; you've seen Pride and Prejudice what ... ten times? The clothes and sets were beautiful too. I loved the tension throughout the entire film; the viewer, of course, knows what's coming historically and what he needs to be able to do, and we are fair certain he'll get there, but you don't know how it's going to happen. Fantastic film, and I will drag Mom to the theater even though she doesn't see rated-R movies.
Still sick, but it was nice to be out and about a little. Phil got us in -- he was waiting to see it until I could go -- and it's the first time in ten days that I've seen him. I'm still sniffing and coughing, though, so no touching. We didn't even sit next to each other because I didn't want him breathing my germs. So at the end of the evening, instead of our usual good night kiss, we made the best of it with a Young Frankenstein Elbow Bump of Passion, which you can find in this clip at 3:03:

I think it's worth watching the whole scene, starting at 1:39. Golly, I love Mel Brooks.
If standing out in the cold for half an hour after the movie doesn't have a detrimental effect on me, then I'll see Phil again Thursday at the Mysterium for Alice in Wonderland. Yay!
