keladry_lupin: (Happy Today)

I woke up very late this morning after almost eleven hours of sleep; mostly nightmares. Incompetence, good intentions gone horribly wrong, people and computers screwing with my mind, that sort of thing. I was so glad to wake up, but I was already late for church. I was online for a short while as I had breakfast, and then I got in the shower. Sometimes when I sleep in, I just say, "Forget it" and skip church altogether. But today, it was almost like I had no choice; I showered, fluffed the hair, applied the makeup, and said all the while, "By the time I get there, it'll be half over." But I went anyway, getting there halfway through the second hour-long session of classes. And sure enough, in the last hour-long session, an announcement was made that Phil's mom had died and a friend was holding an open house from 5 to 7 today. I would have missed it if I hadn't gone, and while I don't know if Phil would have been upset not to see me, I would have never known that he likes my legs. (He was telling stories of his mom to the friends gathered -- there were at least thirty of us in the dining, living, and front rooms -- and he kept glancing at my legs. And I double-checked; nothing hideous about them, just fat-but-nicely-shaped legs and feet.) I would have been heartbroken if I hadn't known about the open house, missed it, and then found out later.

Mom came over directly after church, so she was here from three to half nine. Nice visit, great food -- roast chicken, stuffing/dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, and a token vegetable. We didn't get a thing done to prepare the flat for moving day, but that's because of the open house. Once I told her about it, all thoughts of moving bookcases or organizing stuff flew right out the window. (Aw, drat.)

Only drawback: I have a sore throat and headache, and I feel a little feverish. I first noticed the sore throat around 6 this evening (headache all day), and they've been getting worse all evening. It's hard not to think of pigs flying in the past tense, but I shall wait until the morning to see if I'm sick or what. (If I am sick, I'm gonna be PISSED. Shakespeare in the Park is Wednesday night, and Grease on Friday night with Phil. Plus moving preparations all week.)
