The Professors Snape walked through the corridors of Hogwarts, each silent and pensive after another day of teaching. Hermione tucked her hand into the crook of her husband’s elbow, and he glanced at her approvingly.
Just around the corner from the library, however, he halted and gestured for silence. Hermione heard it, too, and whispered, “Let me look.”
Severus scowled, and Hermione raised her eyebrows, saying, “Remember Argus and Irma?”
He cringed, remembering an awkward, aborted attempt to deduct points from the caretaker and librarian, before he realized who they were. Severus gestured, and his wife peeked around the corner.

“Oh,” she murmured, and Severus stepped behind her.
Fifth-years Irene Snape and Sirius Potter stood outside the library doors. At a murmured word from the boy, Irene’s face turned to his. Sirius touched her chin, and covered Irene’s lips with his own.
Hermione’s heart melted. It was the loveliest thing she’d ever seen; so gentle and chaste. She took her husband’s hand in hers. “What a lovely first kiss,” she whispered.
“It might not be their first,” growled Severus. Hermione could tell that he was livid.
“I hope it is.”
“Why?”
Hermione smiled up at her husband. “I just do.”

Back in their quarters, Hermione set her books and scrolls on her desk as Severus went to his stores in search of an analgesic. She sighed, readying herself to ride out the inevitable explosion.
Twelve minutes later, after a rant that included Hermione’s daughter -- Irene was always Hermione’s, when she did something her father disapproved of -- all things Potter, and the inevitable depravity of anyone named after a member of the Black family, Severus slumped onto the settee in sullen silence. Hermione crossed the room and, without preamble, straddled her husband’s lap.
Severus raised his eyebrows, waiting.
Hermione smiled, remembering.

Title: She Might Die Tomorrow
Team: Order of the Phoenix
Word Count: 100
Rating: PG
Challenge: First Kiss
Characters: Hermione, Severus, others implied
It was the night before the Order’s do-or-die strike against Voldemort. The tension at Grimmauld Place was tangible, and Hermione hardly knew what to do with herself. Harry and Ginny had already taken over the room Ginny and Hermione shared, and Ron and Susan had warded the front parlour.
Professor Snape was in the library, arguing with Minerva, Moody, Molly, and Arthur. Hermione couldn’t hear the conversation, but it was heated, and little wonder.
Hermione sat on the first-floor landing, biding her time. She might die tomorrow, and she wanted to tell Severus Snape just what she thought of him.

Challenge: First Kiss
Characters: Hermione, Severus
Knowing Snape was alone, Hermione entered the library. He sat slumped in a chair, long fingers massaging his temples. He looked up at the sound of the door shutting.
“Hermione,” he murmured in greeting.
Without a word, she crossed the room and straddled his lap.
“What the devil --” he began, but she leaned forward, pressing her lips to his gently. He blinked when she pulled away enough to rest her forehead against his.
“I think you’ve already figured out that I respect you, Severus. I just don’t want to die without telling you that I love you very much.”

Title: His Response

Word Count: 100
Rating: PG
Challenge: First Kiss
Characters: Hermione, Severus
Severus’ nostrils flared. Hermione closed her eyes, gently rubbing the tip of her nose against his, and waited for the expected explosion. She’d worked with him enough this summer, since his true loyalties had been exposed, that she had gotten used to his temper. She trusted him to let her down cleanly, if not too gently.
Instead, Hermione felt his hands on her back, holding her closer. “Are you insane?” Severus murmured.
Opening her eyes, she replied, “I don’t think so.” She smiled, starting with her eyes, and let it spread to her mouth.
Nothing more was said that night.

Title: Just a Kiss
Team: Order of the Phoenix
Word Count: 100
Rating: PG
Challenge: First Kiss
Characters: Hermione, Severus
“She isn’t a child any more, Severus,” Hermione murmured, looking at her husband’s careworn face.
He clenched his jaw. “She’s my child.”
“It’s just a kiss,” Hermione reminded him. “They aren’t engaged. As much as you’d like to, it just isn’t feasible to send her to a nunnery, Severus.” He chuckled slightly. “Being a parent isn’t about control, it’s about teaching. We’ve taught her as well as we knew how, and we have to respect her right to control her own life.”
Severus glared sullenly, and she continued, “Even if she wants to date Sirius.”
And Hermione kissed her husband.
