[livejournal.com profile] triedunture had a very good idea; a few days ago, she started a meme listing ten things she totally loves and wants to let others know about. It's taken me a few days because I've been trying to compile a list that doesn't include the stuff on my LJ sidebar, but I am going to include one or two things from there anyway. And I'm going to include a website that I learned about from her, because it is fabulous.

1. Vid to mp3 takes the URLs of video files and turns them into mp3 files. This is one of the ones [livejournal.com profile] triedunture recced, and I've already got several live musical recordings and a few QI clips (ones that don't need visuals to back them up, obviously) as audio files in my hard drive. I love recordings of live music, so this is bloody brilliant!

2. A Softer World helps me see things from a different angle while making me laugh.

3. I can't tell you how many times I've gone to [livejournal.com profile] minervamoon's QI Transcripts page for clarification on something someone said that wasn't quite clear, or else to help me find the episode where Jimmy Carr got lots of points for spelling out "PUT SMARTIES TUBES ON CATS LEGS MAKE THEM WALK LIKE A ROBOT" in fridge magnet letters.

4. the sheer volume of e-mails can be a bit overwhelming at times, but FlyLady has helped me turn my flat from bombed-out Beirut into ... bombed-out North Long Beach, I guess. And soon it won't like like bombed-out anything.

5. Apartment Therapy fills me with LUST. It's not just about improving your living space, but it's also about improving your life when you're away from home; there are a lot of recommendations that the users give about vacations -- destinations and deals and such. I've only recently discovered it, but I just look at the pretty pictures and get off my butt and clean my flat a little more.

6. Project Gutenberg has helped me enrich my mind and eased the stress on my wallet. A lot of literature that isn't under copyright is available here for your perusal at no charge. I've found a lot of P. G. Wodehouse's stuff, as well as Jean Webster's books.

7. Paul Brians' Common Errors in English page. I've recced it before, and whenever I can't remember proper word usage for a fic, I go here and am usually able to find an answer.

Okay, so I only thought of seven. I'm unimaginative and grumpy at the moment
