I read Twilight because Cradle Robber recommended it, and she sent an e-mail last week telling me how much she loved the last book in the series. I gigglesnorted, remembering how there were several of my LJ friends who hated the book enough to return it and get their money back. And I found a chapter-by-chapter spork of the book that made me cry with laughter. But I can't tell her that, because I won't get grumpy something she loves. The temptation is there, though. *hangs head*
(Apologies to the Twilight fans on my flist, but you already knew about the sporkage. Cradle Robber doesn't.)
She knows I'm not enamored of Twilight (understatement), and I've expressed my opinions about the plot and characterization of the first book to her, but I'm perfectly willing to read her squeeing over the book. After all, how many times have I written about the HP or Star Wars fandoms, when I've been at least marginally aware that she couldn't care less? (She likes the HP books, and she likes the HP and SW movies, but the fandoms? She isn't interested one bit.)
See, this is the benefit of e-mail. I can't see her roll her eyes when she gets yet another report about a fanfic I'm agonizing over, and she can't see me wrinkle my nose when she talks about something that I'm not all that interested in.
