I can think of several posts on my flist in the last month or three that say something to the effect of, "If you think [such and such], then (A) why are you on my friends list? or (B) go away forever."
There have probably been posts like that that I can't recall any more, because I've actually have agreed with the writer's viewpoint, so I just nodded my head and went my way. I notice these posts when I do think [such and such]. Does the fact that my opinion differs from someone else's make me a bad person? Or have I just been flying under my friends' radar until they find out that I have a belief or opinion that s/he doesn't share?
I don't friend anyone just because they friend me, and I am only mildly reticent about removing people from my friends list. This is my fandom journal, but I post personal stuff here because I'm too lazy to log off and sign onto my personal journal more often. I friend people (those who don't annoy me) because we have the fandom in common ... almost all of you are Potterverse fans, and most of you ship HGSS. (The rest of you love Stephen Fry and QI even more than I do.) One shared interest doesn't mean we have everything in common, and it really ticks me off when I read a journal entry that implies that, because I have what someone believes is this horrible, ignorant opinion, I am not worth their time.
There are lots of shades of grey out there. Just because I don't agree with someone completely doesn't mean I disagree with that person completely, either.
