I'm far away from all the six or seven SoCA wildfires -- safely insulated by miles of urban sprawl on three sides and the Pacific Ocean on the fourth -- but the ash and smoke are everywhere. The sun is an angry orange color, and the sky is bland and overcast. It's dreadful and smelly. I'm wheezing, and my car was covered by ash when I went outside. We did have a blackout this afternoon, but it only lasted for about half an hour.
Roll call: how are my SoCA friends doing?
