another Monday, another happy list

1. WIP's word count is up to 6943. This does not include the 2000-ish word outline with lots of dialogue that I churned out first about a week and a half ago. I should be finished with the first draft this week, and with the finish line so close, I expect to make a lot of progress during lunch and after work today.
2. Busy week, though. I have three or four performances of a play to see at the Mysterium Tuesday through Friday, lunch and clothes shopping with coworker E tomorrow, the dentist Wednesday, and the Zoo with Mom, Chris, and the girls Saturday. I'm looking forward to everything but the dentist.
3. Nice breakfast and hanging out with Dad Saturday morning.
4. A copy of Alec Guinness's Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy miniseries is finally available at Netflix. I'm sending something back today in the hope that I'll get it Wednesday.
5. I mentioned this last week, but despite the lack of dental visits in several years (shut up), I have zero cavities that need immediate attention.
6.
novel_in_90 has a daily deadline of 750 words. And the other members gently mock you if you report in with a total of fewer than 750. It's like
5_for_five, and so it's very helpful. I'm not writing a novel, however, so I shall drop out as needed to edit or just take a break. And then jump back in as needed to work on something else; I have several prompts I'd like to take a crack at.
7. Easter sweets should be coming in on Wednesday. CADBURY EGGS! I stockpile them every year, and I can ration them out so I still have some eight weeks after Easter. (What? Mormons are supposed to do food storage!)
8. I bought extra boxes of Girl Scout cookies and Almond Roca from the Campfire Girls just so I could leave them on the table at work and hear JD bitch about them.
9. I've had a few of those moments this week where I wrote something, and I made myself laugh out loud. Silly fandom crossover reference! It may not survive heavy editing (third or fourth draft) or the beta's red pen (fourth or fifth draft), but I just read it again, four days after I wrote it, and I giggled.
10. Mom's orchid was starting to bud. I expect I'll find at least one flower when I finally go outside this morning.
I had a somewhat productive weekend. Dad had to work Saturday, so our original plans for lunch were scrapped, but we had breakfast, I got my tax forms to him, and then I did some essential shopping. I went back to Target in the afternoon because of a beautiful scarf I saw in the morning, but I didn't want to make an impulse purchase because I prefer to STICK TO THE LIST. The scarf really is beautiful; about seven feet long, and the center is white while the ends are a dark country blue, and the color changes gradually. It's more of a fashion scarf than a warm scarf, really, though it'll do for anywhere in SoCA other than my cubicle at work.
Sunday was all about three things: clothes, food, and Supernatural. I haven't made fried chicken in over a year, and I had a craving, so I indulged it. Cooked way more than I needed for dinner because I love leftovers. I still suck at gravy, though. And I did enough laundry to get me through the next two weeks if necessary. (I try to do it weekly so I don't monopolize the only machines in the building for more than a few hours, but it doesn't always work that way. Hence the fact that I had so much dirty laundry to wash.) Then I planned my clothes for the week, which is actually kind of fun and saves me the trouble of choosing stuff when I'm bleary and sleep deprived. And I rewatched five episodes from series 1 of Supernatural, which was fun.
Happy Valentine's or Singles Awareness Day for them that celebrates it. For me, it's just Tuesday.
