In my travels today, I found the best thing in the world: Martinelli's sparkling apple cider in little individual bottles. It costs a bit more than the equivalent amount in the larger bottles, but it's perfect! A little six-pack of green bottles with sparkling cider in it. I discovered a month ago that Martinelli's is somehow the perfect thing to drink with chocolate. I like it even better than milk if I have a brownie, so I'm snacking on a bit of lovely dark brownie and a little bottle of apple cider as I transcribe more of QI.

I just set a chicken in the crock pot to cook overnight (thanks for the instructions, [livejournal.com profile] quietselkie), which wasn't an easy task with two felines twining themselves around my ankles. The Beastie Boys are looking up at me with puppy dog eyes and saying, "We smell the chicken. Why are you torturing us with the chicken? We know it's here somewhere; we can smell it, and we wants the chicken, Precious." (Yes, cats can make puppy-dog eyes. If you doubt it, come over to my flat when I open a can of tuna.)

Some idiot just posted a Draco/Hermione fic search to WIKTT, and some other idiot actually answered it. I put both posts in the trash and deleted the trash before I gave in to the desire to tell those two exactly how idiotic they are. Not only was it a fic search, but it wasn't even our pairing. It's not my group, so I have to remind myself that it's not my place to chew them out.

Found art for the piano nook. I was at KMart for the usual stuff -- laundry detergent and shampoo and loo paper and such -- and they're having a framed art sale. I found exactly what I've been contemplating for the piano nook for $40, and there's a small scratch on the frame, so they knocked it down by 10%. It's a lovely sepia world map that shows the world as the Europeans thought it in the late 1700s or early 1800s. It's already framed, so I just have to hang it once the wall is clear. I also found a wall clock for the bathroom, but it's a cheap analog clock made of plastic, and I can hear the second hand tick from the bedroom.

Took lots of pictures of the bathroom, even though it still isn't completely finished. I'm getting nitpicky here, but I'm going to Lowe's on Monday and finding switchplates, because the ones that came with the apartment are so dingy. They started out off-white, but they've darkened to a dirty beige. (And that's after I washed them with the dishes.) So I'm going to see what I can find, and once I screw them in, the bathroom will be completely done. Then I'll take more pictures and post them. I have some art in the bathroom that really doesn't belong there, but since the living room looks like bombed-out Baghdad right now, I don't want it to get lost in the shuffle. Especially since this art is the basis for the entire room; the paint color is coming from it, the theme of the room is coming from it.

I like to post my to-do lists after I've actually done some of the items on them:
today:
bank (laundry quarters)
food shop
KMart

iron white shirt
find nylons for church
organize living room table
clean kitchen
clean bathroom
take out recycling
take out trash
laundry
set the chicken on
speak to each of my parents

transcribe to five minutes, five seconds (exactly halfway through the segment)

before this Friday:
get Christmas lullaby trio sheet music out of the garage
finish the transcript and send it to MM
dinner at Ferraro's on Tuesday night at 7
convince Mom that she doesn't want chicken and dumplings Sunday
that little thing called an EXCHANGE FIC
buy paint and switchplates
turn in film, get it back, and post photos under the heading MARTHA STEWART MADE ME DO IT
find out how to extract photos from the phone, because that's the Before picture for the bathroom
dust bedroom walls and windowsill
choir practice, play practice

The computers are in the kitchen, and the cats aren't allowed on the kitchen table or counters, so I've had to set up chairs on either side of me so the Beastie Boys can be close to me without sitting on the table itself. Boo-Boo is on the chair to my left, mostly curled up, but one of his front paws is stretched out and resting on my knee. The gesture makes me grin like the sentimental idiot that I am.
