I've been anxious to find out about the next HPEF conference -- when and where and all that. I was hoping they'd bring it somewhere on the West Coast, like Seattle or San Diego, but it turns out they're skipping a year and will have Ascendio in 2012 in Orlando again.
*grumpy face* Well, they aren't the only ones doing HP cons. I'm getting antsy for a holiday since the last time I went out of town (besides a recent funeral) was Portus. And it doesn't have to be a HP con; there's always Comic Con in San Diego and Dragon Con in Atlanta next year. Or the annual Doctor Who con in Chicago -- I won't be able to make it this year, but maybe 2011. (Of course, I'm not THAT into DW/Torchwood, so that's unlikely.)
Would anyone be interested in a little get-together in July 2011 to see the last HP film? According to Wikipedia, the release date is 15 July, which is a Friday, though that might change. I remember that quite a few of my friends went to Hogsmeade Witches Weekend a year or two ago, where the focus was seeing an exhibit of costumes and props from the HP movies as well as just getting together.
Or should we do Comic Con next year? It's in San Diego, so there's lots of other stuff to do. (Though that'll be the weekend after the last HP movie comes out. I dislike crowds, so I usually wait a week to see movies even when I'm dying to see them, but I know most of you will want to see DH when it comes out.)
I'm just brainstorming and gathering ideas right now, so sound off if you're even remotely interested. If you've heard of a HP or sci-fi/fantasy con I haven't mentioned, I'd like to know about it. If a long weekend of sightseeing, movie-watching, and just hanging out (discussing fic reading/writing) with the flist sounds better, let me know.
And if I get no responses, I'll ask again in about a month when all the Infinitus-goers have recovered.
