too much of a good thing

I was reading a fanfic and came across a term that set off klaxons and flashing lights in an episode of QI. It's not an accurate term, and as soon as I read it, I actually said what I'd heard on QI out loud to the computer screen. If it's throwing me out of the universe of the fic -- which is pretty damn good (as always, when it comes to this author) -- then I'm watching too much QI.
