For the second day in a row, Mom woke me up an a positively unholy hour with her coughing. (Although, to be fair ... today her alarm woke me and didn't wake her, so I had to get up out of bed and wake her, and then she started coughing and kept me awake.) Thank heaven she's going to Aunt Millie's for two nights. The only time I sleep any more is when she's gone.
TPP still isn't working. OWL won't load. I might as well go to work.
On the upside, one of the student workers in my library (R.G.) is meeting a co-worker and me at her parents' pizza restaurant. (And she informed us that her folks won't hear of us paying! Free lunch!) So we'll be taking a three-hour lunch today.
Edit: Wow. Lunch was fabulous! It was right out of My Big Fat Greek Wedding; R.G. introduced us to her brother, brother-in-law, and father, and my co-worker and I were practically waited on hand and foot at a table in the corner. They were loud, friendly, sweet, and welcoming, and they remind me of my aunts, uncles, and cousins on my dad's side of the family. (My mom's side of the family is shockingly normal.) As predicted, they wouldn't hear of us paying for lunch -- of course we offered! -- and we had hot wings, salads, split pea soup (yummy family recipe), and individual pizzas. Everything was wonderful. AND they sent a large pizza with us back to the library, for everyone else.
Dessert, though, was the best part: eye candy. R.G.'s brother is in his mid-twenties, tall, lean, charming, and HOT. His father and my co-worker (the mother of two women in their mid-twenties) have already arranged a marriage and settled on a dowry. Jokingly, of course, but my co-worker is taking her daughter there for lunch, some time soon! Hee! I can hardly wait to hear what happens!
*sigh* And now we're back at work. I have a full belly, and I want to take a nap. I'm just in a much better mood, now.
