Just for fun

grangersnape100, but it doesn't really make sense unless you've read chapters five and six of She Was Beautiful to Him. So here's a drabble, just for the heck of it:
Owl-boy and Fire-fur barged into the soft room, making loud noises. Crookshanks waited for his pet, but she didn’t come. Where was Mum?
When his pet’s pets left the soft room again, he slipped out with them. Following his nose, Crookshanks found himself at the sick place, and slipped in when Phoenix-man opened the door for him. Then the master of the castle watched from under a bed as Phoenix-man spoke to Dark-man.
Dark-man stayed with Mum all night. Such loyalty was rarely shown among non-felines; Crookshanks hadn’t thought much of Dark-man before, but he deserved a reward for this.

Jan. 30th, 2007 10:58 pmA long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, I read Star Wars books. A trilogy of them took place five years after Return of the Jedi, and a new character was a woman who called herself Mara Jade. She had a rather savage vendetta against Luke Skywalker, because she had been a servant of the Emperor's when Palpatine died: the Emperor's Hand. She would slip in through back doors and accomplish tasks that armies couldn't.
Some time after I finished my one Obidala fic, but before the PoA movie converted me to the Potterverse, I thought about branching out to other characters (besides Obi-Wan and Padme) in fanfiction. I wondered about Mara, where she had come from, and what training she had received for her position as the Emperor's Hand. I also wondered if Vader ever grew tired of being the apprentice in his relationship with Darth Sidious, and wanted to become the master and have an apprentice of his own. I think Palpatine would have realized this restlessness, and this plot bunny was the result.
I only ever wrote the scene where Palpatine gives his apprentice an apprentice, in an attempt to placate Vader and keep him from chafing against the leash that the Emperor has around Vader's neck: ( Read more... )
