I love school.

Bless my Digital Media teacher. I had no idea the kind of artwork you can do on the computer! Of course, the two icons I've patched together tonight are done via Paint, but I have an icon now! Three of 'em, actually; I borrowed the iBrow one from the erstwhile Rickman_Daily page, and made the other two this evening.

I'm about seven weeks into it now, but I do want to reiterate: I love school. I'm having the time of my life, despite the fact that I'm not getting any sleep this term. I take Drawing, Astronomy, and Introduction to Digital Media (which is a fancy way of saying, "crash course on Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign").

My astronomy class, especially, is most excellent. *COUGH* cute teacher *COUGH* Yeah, he's a cute geek, which is right up my alley. Tall, lanky, ginger-haired. Now, you all can tell from my name that I adore the geeky werewolf Marauder dude (especially when played by David Thewlis.). But I kid you not, when my astronomy professor walked into the classroom that first night, I sat bolt upright in my chair and thought, "It's Remus Lupin."

Ten minutes into his first lecture, I decided that every girl needs a teacher crush from time to time.

What can I say? I also am a geek, but I like to think that I am what I refer to as a lipstick geek -- I'm too eccentric to fit in with the cool people and I don't dumb myself down for a man or anyone, but at the same time, even though I'm huge and lumpy and frumpy, I make an effort to present myself as something other than a sexless spinster library assistant.

It helps that I'm very enthusiastic about the subject. I haven't studied physics or higher maths yet, but I've been looking up a the night sky (and reading about it, too) for twenty years, so I consider myself to be a veteran stargazer. But I do participate in the lectures (though only when it's apparent that no one else knows the answer; I don't want to be so annoying and know-it-all-ish that the other kids will beat me up after class).

Hmmm. I'm getting my hair cut and colored tomorrow. Maybe I should tell my stylist to dye it auburn.

I'm getting my waist-length tresses shorn for Locks of Love, a foundation that takes donated hair and turns it into wigs for sick children. It's going from very long to above the shoulders in less than eight hours. It'll be nice to use less shampoo and conditioner, and to spend less than thirty minutes with the hair dryer every day, but I'm still nervous about THE BIG CHOP, as I'm calling it.

I haven't told any of my co-workers or RL friends about it. I just know they're gonna freak; I can hardly wait!
