keladry_lupinI can't remember the last time I made a post that wasn't memes, the bookcase project, or fanfiction. When I just made a post to say hi, or something like that.

Life-As-Usual progresses. The Dad hired me to clean his flat yesterday, and it's been quite a while since that kitchen floor have been cleaned, so I had to scrub it (while on my hands and knees -- he doesn't have a decent mop -- ouch) twice, before I was satisfied. Scrubbed the top of his refrigerator, too ... you know the kind of dust you get in the kitchen that's not the usual dry dust, but somewhat greasy too? It took a while to get that taken care of, as well. But all's well that ends well, and Dad paid me very well, for two hours' work. Being us, of course, we stretched it out to over four hours, because we always chat and watch golf (I take occasional breaks from cleaning) when I'm over there. I flung open all the windows, and boy, did I receive a glare! Well, I'm sorry, Dad, but the place needs airing out, once in a while. It smells like a bear cave!
Then I came home and got to do it all here, without getting paid for it. (Fneh.) 'Tis cool; I got some more stuff shuffled around from one bookcase to the other, and some more dusting done. Mom's still hacking from her cold, but she's finally getting better.
She's assured me that it doesn't hurt her feelings, that I'm making plans for the day I am finally without a flatmate. Except I'm really quite annoyed; I found a beautiful quilt at Linens 'N Things, and come to find out it only comes in one size: King. The thing would be huge on a full-sized bed -- an extra two feet in width! But now everything else looks pale and boring, by comparison. Maybe I can just buy the pillow shams, and get away with a solid colored comforter or duvet. Maybe? Click here to see a quilt! It's just as well. I have two cats who are mostly black and shed a lot. Spending $170 on a quilt that the Beastie Boys will be sleeping on would be imbecilic.
I've never been a "pink" person -- when I was a teenager, everything in my bedroom was black or white. With my first three flatmates, I had plaid flannel sheets (think Al from Home Improvement) and a denim comforter. Nothing that was pretty or feminine. This quilt is both, but the white and bright green keep this quilt from making the bedroom look like a bottle of Pepto Bismol puked all over the place.
And I've talked about building a loft bed, but I think I might make it a bunk bed. (The company who designed the loft bed I want has plans to make bunk beds, so it'd be really easy to modify.) In case I have a visitor for the night, like my niece, Mom, or someone from out of town.
Church was cool, too. I swear, we have the best Sunday School teacher in existence. I hate sounding cliche -- or like a stoned hippie -- but she really is deep, dude. Just very thoughtful, and she puts a lot of effort into the lessons, so we're very lucky to have her.
And it's official, sports fans: I LOVE MY BOSS. (In a totally NON-inappropriate way, of course!) I mentioned a few days ago that I'm planning on buying a new computer, monitor, printer, and digital camera this year. He was trying to sell one of his cameras, but because it's more than two years old, there were no takers. So he GAVE it to me. Gave me the camera, owner's manual, software CD ... everything but the batteries and charger, which he's keeping for his new camera. It was very kind of him; I tried to get him to accept some payment, but he wouldn't hear of it. The best I can do is give a thank-you note with a Starbucks gift card inside; he mentioned that he and his wife hang out with another couple at the local coffee shop every Saturday. I still don't have the camera set up or the software installed properly, so there's still stuff that could go wrong, but even if it does go wrong, isn't that kind of him?
I'm not looking forward to work, but oh, well. It's been a good weekend. Gettin' sleepy, so I bid you all a good Monday.
