*skidding in after re-taking the test*

*grin*

It still makes me laugh, that I wrote a fic where Severus is snarky as ever, and he needs a cane (leg was amputated after the battle where Voldemort was defeated) ... and people kept comparing him to House. I hadn't even seen the show, though I'd heard of it, at that point. Now I'm addicted. I wonder why!

I'm addicted to QI, too

My perverted little mind now wants to draw Stephen in a little flowing toga, holding up a butterfly net as he's running after a butterfly:

In response to his question of how long it's been since a species of beetle was discovered, I would have answered *counting on the fingers since 1964* forty-three years.

Little kids aren't supposed to grow up and be HOT!

It isn't who you think it is.

Is it just me, or does he look like Emilio Estevez in this last one?

2/7

During the next seven weeks, I will list seven things that I'm grateful/glad/fangirly about, each time I'm annoyed/disappointed/discouraged.

1. Jane Austen
2. [livejournal.com profile] subvers
3. Mom
4. [livejournal.com profile] bambu345
5. Matthew Macfayden
6. Thomas Newman
7. chocolate

This is number two out of seven; I listed my first of seven posts in February and promptly forgot about it.

Two in One Night!

Only this is another kind of Momism ... she did this one on purpose. I just forced her to watch the deleted scenes from Sense and Sensibility, and some moments where I really liked Emma Thompson and Lindsey Doran's commentary of the movie. We got to the point where Brandon is reading poetry to Marianne as she's recovering, and all of a sudden, I saw out of the corner of my eye that Mom has covered her face with her hands and is snorting, or something. I gave her a look that told her to tell me what was up, and she said, "I just want to suck on his face!"

Even after I picked myself up off the floor

and wiped the tears of laughter away, I couldn't decide if it was disturbing or not, that my mother and I both lust after the same actors. I suppose Lydia and Kitty Bennet felt the same way, when their mother admitted her fondness for men dressed in regimentals.

(I think I've been watching and reading too much Jane Austen. I usually wear business attire -- skirt suits or smart, plain dresses -- to church. Today I'm in an empire-waisted sleeveless dress, with a long-sleeved Oxford shirt underneath. I look like I should be ringing a school bell.)

Only in dreams ...

... do I get to hang out with both Severus Snape and Remus Lupin.

Yeah, my subconscious was kind to me last night. I don't remember much about it, except that they were co-teaching a class I was taking at college, and I spoke to Remus about my plans for my future education. He vanished, however, and Snape was about as kind as could be expected, which is to say, not at all. But boy, were both of them hot.

YAY! But now I want to go back to bed for a week, and see if I can get that dream to continue.

Contentment Is ...

... hot chocolate with whipped cream on top, a really decadent, fudge-covered brownie with chocolate shavings, and a great movie with a truly dishy man on the DVD. (Colin Firth is beautiful, and he was amazing as Darcy, but there's something about Matthew Macfayden in this role that just makes me drool and go weak at the knees.) It doesn't even matter that I'm at work -- and actually working.

(I know; you're thinking, It's August and she's drinking hot chocolate?! Yup. My desk is directly under an air conditioning vent, and it's always freezing.)

It makes up for the Slim-Fast shake I had for lunch.

Back to work!

Read This Somewhere:

Alan Rickman has one of those voices that a woman hears, and then she starts to unbutton things.

Works for me!

Long time no ... whatever

On the subject of Boyfriends.

I don't have one at the moment. Not the kind that most people think of when they hear the word 'boyfriend.'

But Boyfriends, those are a different thing. I have about a dozen that I can think of, right off the bat. See, I learned this usage of the word from a coworker at the place where I work. She counts the late Richard Harris (yes, the original -- and in my opinion only -- Dumbledore) and Ashton Kutcher among her Boyfriends. She also happens to be married, mother of three, and in her early fifties. My second or third week of work, I visited her cubicle and saw all these pictures plastered all over the walls. Cute young men, cute older men, men whose faces look like five miles of rugged Irish back road (okay, one man; that was Harris), and photos of her family. Wondering what this is, I commented on her photo gallery, and she introduced me to each celebrity whom she fancies. I finally understood what she was talking about when she said, "Boyfriend." This is her term for celebrity hunks whom she's never met, but whose work she enjoys, and they're easy on the eyes, to boot!

She then made the mistake of asking me if I had any Boyfriends. I got all giggly; I have a list, you see. Numbered. Not recorded anywhere, but there are ten. To start out with.

And I'm going to London to see Boyfriend Number One. Ewan McGregor is going to be performing in "Guys and Dolls" at the Picadilly Theatre in London's West End. I am pinching pennies to get there before the summer's over. I don't want to go during heavy tourist season, but the weather should still be nice as summer's fading into autumn.

Things to do in London:

See one of Shakespeare's plays performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company (Twelfth Night rocks!)
Watch lovely Ewan sing and dance his heart out while I swoon in the audience for two or three hours.
See the Tower of London and Big Ben.
Spend an entire afternoon on Charing Cross Road. Find out where Marks & Co. (84, Charing Cross Road) was.
Have my picture taken at King's Cross Station, between platforms 9 and 10.
Just walk around the city, getting acquainted with it. I intend to get lost every single day I'm there.

Today's song (sung by the Moody Blues) is dedicated to Boyfriend Number One, who, if I'm not mistaken, started performing in "Guys and Dolls" this week. I'm coming, Gorgeous! I'd tell you to break a leg, but with my luck, you probably would, and then be out of commission for the duration of my holiday.
