Because even though it's Thursday and not Friday (or Monday or Tuesday), I need a bit of a pick-me-up. (This is what I get for staying up too late.) So here's a list of happiness for ya.
♥♥♥ 16,200-ish words on the fic is compensation for the staying up too late I mentioned. Can't remember the exact count at the moment. Now that I have a timeline, things are progressing nicely. I must watch the two episodes of Sherlock with Mycroft and Lestrade in them again to take notes. (Maybe all three. Such a sacrifice.) It's becoming less of a romance and more of a character study, but I'm letting it all hang out because this is a first draft. I expect it'll end up being at least 40,000 words, and then if I can pare it down to about 25,000 words for the final draft -- and turn it back into the romance it's intended to be -- I shall be very well pleased, indeed.
I'm working against the clock, though; Series Two is coming out soon, so it's like writing a SSHG post-seventh-year fic when only five of Rowling's books were published. I want to get this out before there are more additions to the BBC canon.
♥ Phil's coming back again to see ItW tonight. I've been miffed with him lately over a number of small things that may or may not be symptoms of a larger problem, which may not be a problem at all if our situation is what I think it is. I just hope I can convey what's going on in my funny little brain without damaging our rapport, because I'm fond of him.
♥ I washed dishes this week! (It's pretty scary when this is a major accomplishment.)
♥♥ I'm going to bake Saturday morning! I got two new Pampered Chef round cake pans this week, and I bought supplies to bake this weekend when Mom comes home. Cupcakes might be better than a big cake, though, so I can take what's left to share with my friends in the Woods on Sunday without making them look like leftovers. Maybe I'll do my cheesecake cupcakes as well; I've been bragging about the family cheesecake recipe for months to Marla.
♥♥♥ Though he's very poorly, affectionate Boo-Cat is affectionate as ever, even when he's outraged by me bathing him every week. (Those baths are very funny.)
♥♥♥♥♥ I keep finding new and gorgeous music in the oddest places. A Sherlock fanfic introduced me to the King's Singers, whose version of Loch Lomond I have become seriously addicted to. And don't get me started on the Eagles, Anúna, and Chanticleer.
♥♥ I got a lovely compliment last weekend. T, who's one of my Cinderellas, said she loves acting with me in our first scene because we really interact with each other when she's pouring out her woes and wishes to me. It's become her favorite scene in this play because of the tenderness between Cinderella and her Mother that Cinderella doesn't experience anywhere else in the story. That's one of the best compliments I've ever received.
♥ New bunny slippers! The old ones have started shredding because of the concrete and astroturf over the last three weeks, so I bought new ones. But the new ones are so soft, pretty, and clean that I shall try to repair the old ones first. Marla has a hot glue gun, so I shall patch the soles back together during Act II tonight. I also ordered Mimi's birthday present (she'll be one in five weeks) at the same time, and it's freaking adorable.
♥♥♥ Jennifer, our Stepmother, helps me change costumes quickly in exchange for me lacing her into her corset every performance. I come out from being Cinderella's Mother and have sixty seconds to change wigs and accessories. It was a bigger challenge when I wore the star dress and had that on top of adding a collar and shawl to the nightdress, changing shoes for bunny slippers, swapping wigs, and taking off earrings and putting on eyeglasses. We have it down to a science after two weekends, and I could probably manage on my own by now, but Jennifer's assistance gives me peace of mind and about ten seconds to breathe easier every night, for which I am very grateful.
♥♥ Taking tomorrow off work, because I am bushed. Four-day weekend!
♥♥♥♥ Autumn should arrive within the next few weeks. The last several summers have been quite mild in comparison to the ferocious heat I remember from my childhood, but they're still summers. The crisp coolth of the first true autumn breeze is something I anticipate with great enthusiasm every September.
I've realized that my lists are rather repetitive, but that's because they're good things in my life over and over. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
