It's a horrible thing to look for a favorite author at a fanfic archive by looking at my favorites list and not find her. I've been enjoying this woman's stuff for ages; how on earth did I not put her on my favorite authors list before now?!
Listening to mood music. Trying to get myself in a slightly melancholy state of mind for the scene I'll write (being optimistic) tonight.
Transcribing fanfic notes is tough. As I go through my spiral-bound notebook, I'm finding ideas I came up with months ago. Some of them are good ideas, but I'm not sure if I can be arsed to go back and filter them in. (I probably will, at least when I think the ideas will make it a better fic. I don't want Beautiful to be my magnum opus. I don't mind when it shows my progression as a writer, but I do mind that it's the best I've got out there. Not fishing for compliments; I just know I can do better.)
Writing OCs is a hoot. I use actors as the basis for them; right now I've got two Hogwarts professors who look and sound like Tom Hollander and Geoffrey Palmer. It helps me be consistent when it comes to their appearance. (The latter character is going to distract Minerva for much of the fic, and the former will pursue Hermione a bit. He's not creepy like Mr Collins, but his attentions aren't welcome, either.)
Finally integrated two more movie soundtracks into the writing playlists: The Green Mile and Amelie. Both have beautiful, emotive music. (TGM is no surprise, since it's by Thomas Newman.) Still need to finish categorizing and organizing the pieces from Chocolat ... that's another good soundtrack to use! Though I've just run into a piece that doesn't fit any of my categories -- what use have I for a piece that sounds like seduction?
I think I've pulled a muscle or three from all the coughing and sneezing I've been doing. Mighty sneezes, these. Am getting very, very tired of consuming nothing but water, tea, toast, soup, and juice, but they're good for me and they're good for helping me get over my colds. (I can has cheezburger? PLZ?!) The flat's a mess with wadded-up bits of Kleenex and TP paper everywhere. There are more of them around the bases of the bins than there are in the bins; I have rotten aim. (This is why I haven't finished the camera meme; I will once I clean!)
