some good stuff, some not-so-good stuff ... the usual

So there's some good stuff and some bad stuff. Good stuff first. Here's a baker's dozen for the Friday List of Happiness:

♥♥♥ left work early to get a head start on the holiday weekend, thanks to a generous administration

♥♥ finished getting ready for the annual audit – PDFs have been organized (i just hope my naming system makes sense to them), and the original paperwork has been re-organized and put away

♥♥ rehearsals tomorrow and Sunday

♥ eye candy at rehearsals (Rapunzel's Prince doesn't set off any of my bells and whistles, but Shiv would like him because he's blond and extremely pretty)

♥♥♥ seeing Phil tonight (someone who does set off my bells and whistles)

♥♥♥ a pay raise becomes effective today, and it's pay day, too

♥♥ I jokingly said Happy New Year to the folks at the business office, because we start our new fiscal year today -- good riddance to the most stressful time of the year

♥♥♥ Jimbo continues to improve after his surgery

♥♥ dinner with Phil Sunday and lunch with Dad on Monday

♥ no other obligations this weekend, though plans include chocolate chip cookies, working on the Exchange project, and one or two past due projects

♥ enjoying Eragon audio book; I listened to half of it last night while I scanned the paperwork for the audit I mentioned

♥♥ speaking of audio books, I adore the "playaway" devices the public library has; it's a single book on an mp3 player that they loan out, so all you need is your own ear buds or headphones

♥♥ I keep finding new and delicious Sherlock fanfiction (though decent Lestrade icons are hard to find because he's so grumpy in the show)

Boo-Cat news is not so good. The growth in his mouth didn't shrink with the antibiotics he was prescribed -- it's actually bigger than it was two weeks ago -- so he needs surgery to remove it and have it biopsied. I shall spend the weekend looking at finances, because the estimate they gave me for the surgery was intimidating. I'll figure it out, though.

Poor kid. I can tell he's uncomfortable because he's starting to rub his mouth a lot, but the drooling and halitosis are gone, so that's a little improvement, I guess. And he's sitting and purring in my arms as I type, so he's already forgiven me for taking him back to the vet's.

Of course, I haven't given him his new flea medication yet ... who knows when he'll forgive me for that?!

Unfortunately, those thirteen good things don't really balance out the one bad thing, but I shall remain optimistic.
